The Line’ is a new mixed-use, transit-oriented development that visually and physically opens up to Charlotte’s popular South End neighborhood. An ideal setting for work-life integration, the tower introduces a retail floor featuring local dining and entertainment experiences, accessible greenspaces, and enhanced connections to the Lynx light rail and pedestrian trail. The building’s significant 55-foot-deep office floor plate provides versatile, dynamic workspace opportunities. To accommodate 700 parking spots without diminishing the community-centric feel of the space, the design team carved each parking level out of the facade to create a pedestrian friendly scale and engaging experience at the ground level.
As the next phase on the Camp North End campus, 201 Camp + 701 Keswick continues the dedicated effort to transform and preserve a significant portion of North Charlotte’s history. The existing building is a steel-framed 235,000sf warehouse with exposed wood roof decking and masonry walls. Portions of the building have been removed to allow for a future new construction phase & parking deck and to allow for the creation of the Keswick Avenue extension through the campus. Where portions of the building were removed, select remnants have been preserved and exposed in keeping with the campus’ mantra “Keep the Character.
The Western Carolina University (WCU) Energy Production Facility project involved the installation of temporary utilities and facilities to ensure the ongoing operation of the current steam plant during construction. This was followed by targeted demolition of existing structures to make way for the construction of a new steam generation plant. The new facility comprises a two-story, 17,000 square foot building housing modern boilers and related equipment, along with a single-story, 1,200 square foot annex that incorporates the control room, restrooms, and offices. Situated on the lower section of the main campus, these buildings replace a portion of the pre-existing steam plant.
